“Dave has the rare ability to seamlessly blend a timeless, organic approach to music production with the wonders of modern technology. He captures the character and honesty in every recording session. Dave Mann is to Western Australia what Dave Cobb is to Nashville.”
Elwood Gray
“As an engineer, producer, song catcher and vibe setter, Dave delivers high quality. I wanted to capture my guitars in a complex and ornate way, and he didn’t flinch at the challenge. The sounds he captured and sculpted were, to say the least, very satisfying.”
John Butler

More about Dave →Songwriter. Performer. Producer. Engineer.
Dave Mann is a WA musician whose work moves between his own music, collaborations with other artists and the craft of helping a recording become what it needs to be.
Dave Mann’s musical life began in the 1990s, recording his own songs on a four-track tape machine as a teenager. Raised in folk music playing alongside his dad and his band, The Loaded Dog, Dave went on to form his own band, building from bars and hotels in Fremantle to performances around Australia and on major festival stages. After 10–15 years spent writing and recording his own music, Dave began recording other artists professionally in 2010, with Wil Thomas’ album Fishermans Bend among his first notable commercial projects. With around 16 years of experience recording and producing other artists, his work continues to move between songwriting, performing, producing and recording artists, with credits including John Butler’s Running River and Tanya Ransom’s The Significance of Time, which received an Australian Folk Music Awards Album of the Year nomination. Based in Margaret River, Western Australia, he makes rock, folk, blues-tinged and soulful music, drawn to songs with meaning, integrity and a generous spirit towards people, culture and the environment. In the studio, his aim is simple: to create a comfortable, safe space where artists can take creative risks and feel supported enough to capture an honest performance, backed by high-quality recording gear and the perspective of someone who knows what it feels like to be behind the microphone and out on stage.
The best sessions feel less like a production line and more like a group of people making something together.
